It is important to have calibration carried out on all test equipment on an annual basis. This is completed to meet with current guidelines.

All equipment manufacturers currently recommend that tests are completed on a yearly basis to ensure that the equipment is functioning correctly and is able to spot any problems with the appliances under test in an efficient and effective way.Calibration

In fact, the IEE Code of Practice 3rd Edition now recommends that test equipment is checked periodically to ensure that they are still in calibration.

The results of your calibration tests must be recorded in a register for inspection. This not only protects you, but ensures you have evidence that your equipment was working within its calibration.

If you do not get your test equipment calibrated regularly, how do you know if it is functioning correctly in a safe and appropriate way? And how do you know that the results your un-calibrated equipment produces are reliable?

The answer is that you don’t know. You cannot prove that your equipment is sound and in working order, therefore your testing results cannot be relied on either.

Calibration is a vital part of your testing procedure and no appliance testing should be carried out without it.
