A little while ago the Electrical Safety Council carried out some research with electrical industry volunteers.

These volunteers were asked what electrical safety meant to them in their daily work life.

The results of the research are as follows:

  • The volunteers said that electrical safety was greatly important and said that it was a big part of their daily job.
  • A lot reported that they felt responsible for preventing electric shock and said that procedures, checks and regulations were important for this.
  • However, there were a few who claimed that these regulations were a chore and much more demanding that they were ten years ago.
  • It is important to note that many of the volunteers were concerned with the general public’s lack of electrical safety knowledge and that most consumers underestimate the seriousness of electrical danger.
  • A lot felt that cowboy electricians are giving professionals a bad name and that more should be done to try and enforce and remove these people.
  • Most said they would like consumer electrical safety campaigns and messages, to highlight electrical dangers and the importance of safety, to become more of an everyday occurrence.

All of these results were carried out and found by the Electrical Safety Council.

What are your thoughts on The Electrical Safety Council’s results, do you agree or disagree with their findings?
