At the end of 2010, the Energy Networks Association, the Association of Electricity Producers and HSE got together to launch a safety initiative that aims to make the UK an electrical health and safety world leader.
They aim to achieve their goal by 2015 and have set some ambitious plans in order to achieve this.
With workers in the electrical industry facing a great amount of risk on a daily basis, health and safety should be a priority when working with such dangerous equipment to ensure that all workers are safe and able to do their job with minimum risk to their health.

In effect a PAT tester is testing for potential electrical faults. It would be very easy for a worker to ignore health and safety whilst performing their testing procedure, but this would be a mistake as it could lead to electric shock or severe burns.
