The Electrical Safety Council’s Fire Safety Fund is still accepting applications for grants until the 17th May 2013 up to the sum of £5000.

The fund was set up to help consumer organisations including companies such as the Fire and Rescue service, charities, Trading Standards, etc. These organisations can apply for grant funding to help pay for fire prevention measures.

The stipulation for qualification is that the money must be used to prevent the cause of fires in homes which are started by electricity.

The main aim of the fund is to benefit local communities through this grant scheme and deliver outcomes which will help reduce the number of electrical accidents and fires in the UK.

ESC will fund projects through the scheme which will tackle the cause of electrical accidents and fires, and those which raise awareness and encourage better behaviour around electricity.

The fund accepts applications annually but in 2013 priority is being given to projects which aim to look at ways to improve accidents and fires caused by electrical appliances and products.

If any of your clients fall into the category of the funding stipulation, encourage them to get their applications in quickly before the deadline. Applications can be made via email and there are guidance notes and terms and conditions on the ESC website.

Those given the awards will be announced in June.
