Insurance can easily be overlooked and forgotten about, but if you don’t get yourself protected, you might end up wishing you had if something difficult happens.

Insurance, in short, is vitally important when PAT testing professionally. However, there is a difference in requirements depending on your circumstances.

For example; If you work for a company as an employee, any PAT work you do for them in this role should be covered under the company insurance. Although it is wise to check before assuming this is the case.

Also, your employer should have public liability insurance alongside liability insurance as someone who employs others. If you work alone for yourself you will need to get liability insurance.

If you are unsure of what you need, contact your employer if you have one or get in touch with an insurance provider. Either will be able to give you accurate information on what insurance you do and don’t need.
