Thinking about PAT Testing this week, we’ve come up with seven great reasons to be a PAT testing technician working in the electrical industry.

  1. Working for yourself: One big plus to the PAT testing world is that it is very straight forward to set up and work for yourself, eliminating the need to answer to a boss and allowing you the freedom to work whenever it suits you.
  2. Choose the contracts you want to accept: If you work for yourself, you will also be able to choose the contracts you do and don’t want to work on, allowing you the freedom to decide on the contracts which are the most enjoyable, profitable and interesting
  3. See different places everyday: The ability to move around and see different and interesting places every day is a real plus. While office workers are stuck at their desks, you can be travelling to new and exciting locations.
  4. Meet and interact with new people: Meeting and interacting with new people on a daily basis is also another great reason to be a PAT tester. Being able to interact and greet new people is a definite plus.
  5. Flexibility: Being a PAT technician allows flexibility, particularly if you are working for yourself and can choose your contracts. You can also choose what hours you work and when you will take time off and for how long.
  6. Courses are easily accessible: Training to be a PAT tester couldn’t be easier with PAT training courses across the whole of the UK running regularly.
  7. Dedicated equipment for the purpose: There is a wide variety of dedicated PAT equipment and accessories available to carry out the tests at great prices to get you started.

If you can think of some other fantastic reasons to be a PAT tester that we’ve missed off the list, let us know via twitter or through a comment on this post.
