ESC (The Electrical Safety Council) are busy getting ready for their third Product Safety Conference in London. Set for the 16th May 2013, the event is rapidly approaching and ESC have announced a range of events set for the day.

Taking place at Church House in London, there will be a range of speakers at the event including, Malcolm Harbour, CBE, MEP and Chairman of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee, who will be opening the day’s events with a speech on the importance of product safety.

Some of the most important issues to be addressed on the day include discussions on design issues and the improvements which could be made to procedures, including things like recall procedures and the traceability of electrical products. The day will also contemplate the best way to teach consumers about the safe buying of appliances, how to use these appliances safely in the home and also how to encourage consumers to take electrical safety much more seriously than they currently do.

The day should be a great success and allows industry professionals and consumers to discuss important issues, and even though the list of speakers is not finalised, those who have already committed to the event include the following:

  •          Dyson
  •          British Retail Consortium
  •          Recalls UK
  •          Bosch
  •         AMEDIA

It is expected that further high profile speakers will also be attending which should make for an informative and successful day.

If you would like to get tickets to the event and find out all the current issues regarding product safety, contact siobhan.doyle@esc.org.uk to book your place.
