It is important, as a PAT tester, to be as open and honest with all your clients. Ensure that you tell all your clients and especially your potential clients what a portable appliance test is and what it consists of.

By instilling confidence in your clients that you are knowledgeable they will be much more likely to use your services.

Here is a quick reminder check list of all the different aspects to cover when discussing PAT testing with potential clients.

  • Office PAT TestingInform clients of the potential dangers faulty electrical equipment can cause, the risk of fire and electric shock, and how either of these could be fatal.
  • Highlight how these faults could go unseen and unnoticed until it becomes too late.
  • Explain what a PAT test is; “Portable appliance testing is the testing of any electrical appliances that come with a plug or fused spur”
  • Inform them of the reasons why the need PAT testing to be completed on their premises, many of them may not even be aware that it is the law to maintain electricPAT Testing Bookal equipment in the workplace.
  • Make them aware of the need for re-testing and specify when this should take place.
  • And finally, let them know the cost of portable appliance testing and what it would mean if they chose to ignore your advice.
