A young 18 year old has won a prestigious award. Kevin Gerrard from Shildon won the Megger multifunction tester at PASS’s North Electrical Trade Fair in Stockton on Tees this year.

Kevin GerrardKevin has been studying at Darlington College for a City and Guilds 2330 Electrotechnical Technology level three qualification and hopes to go to university to study electrical engineering.

When he discovered he had won the multifunction tester, he admits that he was very surprised due to the large number of people he saw entering that competition.

Kevin’s tutor at Darlington College, Mike Mangan, took the group to the NET fair and said; “I am delighted that one of my students has won this prestigious equipment as many of them would not be able to afford it otherwise.”

Kevin, by choosing an electrical future, is following in his father’s footsteps and has also been lucky enough to be shortlisted as one of the last eight for an apprentice scheme for high voltage work with NEDL.

Kevin plans to use his winning tester in his future career and PASS are set to have another successful NET fair where more competitions like the one Kevin won will be taking place.

Don’t forget to make sure you attend the NET fair 2011.
